Mr. Joseph Phillip Looney was born on March 24, 1979 in Detroit, Michigan, to the parentage of the late Rev. Stanley E. Looney, Sr. and Mrs. Thea Knight Looney.
At an early age he confessed his life to Christ at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he served until he moved to Alabama. Later he united with Greater New Hope Baptist Church where he served until the Lord called him home.
Mr. Looney accepted his calling into the ministry in 2011, over the years his mobility continue to decline, but yet and still he continued to serve with determination. He was such a warm, happy spirit, loved by many.
Mr. Looney departed this walk of life on November 11, 2019 at Grandview Medical Center, Birmingham, AL.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Stanley E. Looney, Sr., grandfather, Samuel Looney, Sr., grandmother, Elsie Looney Prectt, two uncles, Samuel Looney, Jr., and Tommie J. Looney, brother, Stanley E. Looney, Jr., grandfather, James B. Knight, grandmother, Lilly M. Knight, aunt, Linda R. McCullough.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, a loving mother, Thera V. Looney of Sylacauga, AL; God mother, Jacqueline (Julius) Twyman of Childersburg, AL; siblings, Sonya (Paul) Pierce of Georgia; Clarence D. Freeman of Detroit, MI; Ja’Neen (Rodrick) Looney of Sylacauga, AL; Kianna (LaVoris) Winfrey of Nashville, TN; Demetrius Hale of Sylacauga, AL; and Typhinnie L. (Bryon) Chambliss of Sylacauga, AL; special nieces, Ariale Looney and Alexis Looney both of Sylacauga, AL; nieces and nephews, Kiarra, Jordan, Decorey, Tayshawn, Bry’Ana, Aleah, Chandler, Niesha, Jamyra, Akeila, Chenoa, Trevon, Jakari, Clarence, Jr., one great nephew, Ashton Garrett and a host of many other relatives and friends.
