Joseph P. Riccardo – aka “Poppy”, “Big Pasta”, “Godfather”, “Joey R”
Joe peacefully passed away in Jupiter, Florida, on April 2, 2022. He was 79 years old.
He was born on October 25, 1942, in Paterson, New Jersey, attended St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey and later received his MBA at Baruch College in New York City. Joe had an illustrious career on Wall Street that spanned over 55 years. Most of those years were spent at Bear Stearns & Co as Head of Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Research. He then went on to launch Healthcare Value Partners, where he remained active until his final days.
Joe served on the Boards of several organizations including; Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey, Jupiter Medical Center, and Maltz Jupiter Theater in Florida. He was a proud supporter of the St. Peter’s Peacocks through scholarships in his father’s name (Peter Riccardo). Joe was an exceptional athlete including having been a southpaw in the minor leagues for the New York Yankees. When he hung up his baseball cleats, he took to the fairways of some of the most prestigious golf courses all over the world. “Poppy” was a mentor to so many be it; in business, friends, and family.
Joe will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bebe, of 53 years, his loving children; Joe, Jr and Amy (Bill) Bell, grandchildren Paige, Logan, Monica, Harrison, and Francesca, and by his siblings; Peter, Phyllis, and Louise.
