Joseph Bruno “Peno” Castellari, 95 of Centralia, passed away July 19, 2013 at Centralia Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia.
Peno was born August 2, 1917 in Centralia, son of Romeo and Te Balda (Pellatti) Castellari. He married Theresa Helen Sullivan on August 6, 1956 in Belleville and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is also survived by three daughters: Patrice Henry of Centralia, Diane Fritch and husband Doug of Centralia and Regina Castellari of Centralia; 6 grandchildren: Michael Lee Castellari and wife Cheryl of Tampa, Florida, Misty Alli and husband Jim of Centralia, Joe Moore and Fiancé Amber Deadmond of Marion, Jessie Walker of Centralia, Elizabeth Fritch of Stamford, Connecticut, and Alex Fritch of Centralia; 8 great-grandchildren: Sterling, Peyton, Reagan, Nia, Logan, Katelyn, Crue, and Triston; a sister, Eileen Richards of Phoenix, Arizona; two sister-in-laws: Lola Castellari of Centralia and Pat Christian of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Eddie Lee Castellari, two sisters, Violet Correll and Edna Mae Parrish, and two brothers, Knute Castellari and Pete Castellari.Peno was a retired Postal Carrier and the Proprietor of “Peno’s Place”. He devoted his life to helping countless others with his love of sports. Not only did he play when he was younger, but he coached, mentored, encouraged and supported all of his life as only Peno could. The Orphans have lost an avid Orphan’s fan. At every Orphan basketball game he would be selling 50/50 raffle tickets for the Booster Club. He was a charter member of the Centralia Sports Hall of Fame, and Clinton County Baseball League Hall of Fame in 2008.
