Seymour – Mr. Joseph Paul Aleksiewicz of Seymour, CT., passed away peacefully on Monday December 1, 2014 at the home of his son, Robert Aleksiewicz and his wife Kit of Prospect, CT. Born August 19, 1917 in Ansonia, CT., he was the son of the late Joseph and Eva Aleksiewicz. He is predeceased by his wife, Julia (Cuzio) Aleksiewicz, his brother, Stanley Aleksiewicz, and his sister, Mary Kiasevicz of New Jersey. Joe is survived by his sons, Robert Aleksiewicz and his wife Kit of Prospect, CT. and William Skowronski and his wife, Joyce of Southbury, CT. He had seven grandchildren: Nathan Dahn and his wife Jamie of Ocala, Florida, Lori Aleksiewicz of Watertown, CT., Joseph Aleksiewicz and his wife Samantha of Torrington, CT., Frederick Lockwood of Waterport, N.Y., Joseph Lockwood and his wife Tara of Sandy Hook, CT., William Lockwood and his wife Juliana of Oxford, CT., and Deena Szklarz and her husband Peter of Sandy Hook, CT. Joe also had five great grandchildren: Griffin Rossi, Cassidy and Caroline Lockwood of Sandy Hook, CT., Jessica Lockwood of Oxford, CT., Sierra Handy of Ocala, Florida and Ryan Szklarz of Sandy Hook, CT. Joseph served in England, Italy, and North Africa during World War II. He was member of the 36th ADG Headquarters Squadron of the Army Air Corps. He worked for AVCO Lycoming in Stratford, CT. for 28 years until his retirement in 1980. He also worked as a park ranger at Kettletown State Park for many years. His favorite lifelong baseball team was the New York Yankees. His other loves were fishing and going to the casinos. He actually went to the casino just a short time before he died. The family would like to thank the staff at Griffin Hospital in Derby, CT., River Glen in Southbury, CT. and especially Hartford Health Care At Home for the wonderful care that they provided for him.
