Joseph Patrick “Pat” Shovlin, of Aurora, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018, at the age of 88. He was born December 27, 1929 and was raised in Denver, Colorado. Pat was the youngest of two sons of Anna L. and Francis Earl Shovlin. Pat attended St Dominic’s Elementary School, Skinner Jr. High and graduated in 1947 from North High School in Denver, Colorado. Pat received an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from Red Rocks Community College. Pat proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War from July of 1950 until his honorable discharge in May of 1954. On April 18, 1953, Pat married the love of his life Marian Smith. They were married for 63 years until Marian passed in 2016. Together they raised four daughters. One of Pat’s greatest passion in life was serving as an Aurora Fireman. He faithfully served the City of Aurora for 30 years from 1958 until his retirement in 1988.
