Joseph Patrick Fischer, age 76, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Maryann Westberg Fischer passed away peacefully Friday April 3, 2015 at the Carolton Convalescent Hospital, Born in Portchester, NY the son of the late G. Steven and Bridget Fischer, he had been a Fairfield resident for the last 34 years. He served in the U.S. Army at Ft.Riley, Kansas and later owned and operated Joseph P. Fischer Carpentry. Active throughout his entire life, Joseph was a former member of the American Legion Post # 74, Fairfield, active in the Fairfield Police Athletic League where he ran the PAL kite flying contest at Fairfield Beach. He was a member of ConnectiKITERS and also an avid hot air balloon enthusiast. Joseph was a member of the Backyard Beekeepers Association, served on the Fairfield Recycling/ Solid Waste Commission, participated in the Fairfield Citizen’s Police Academy and was an avid dog lover. He was fond of helping children and loved to give back to the community. Survivors in addition to his loving wife Maryann include two children, Susan Hickey of Fairfield and William
Fischer and his wife Laura of Cape Coral, FLé; two stepchildren, Melisa Westberg of Sapello, NM and Kendra D’Andrea of Fairfield鍾 nine cherished grandchildren, Hanna. Daxon, Gavin, Morgan, Javen, Sydney, Charlotte, Hilary, Annika and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Kathleen O’Connor and by a brother, Steven Fischer.
