Joseph Natta, 87, of Ottawa, died Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Ottawa Pavilion.
Mr. Natta was born on March 1, 1921 in Cherry to Anton and Sofia (Philippe) Natta . He attended Cherry Grade and High School. He graduated from Hall Township High School where he played basketball and football. He married Kathryn Donna at Holy Trinity Church in Cherry on July 3, 1950. He retired from L.O.F after 38 years in 1983.
Joe served in the Amphibian Boat and Shore Regiment of the U.S. Army from 1944 until 1946, he was in New Guinea, New Britton, Philippines and he fought at the Battle of Borneo (the last battle of WWII). He was a member of St. Columba Church. Also served as a volunteer for Boy Scout Troop 45, at Trinity Lutheran, and as a Caravan member for the Community Hospital of Ottawa and he was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn of 58 years; one daughter, Karla (Richard) Stokes of Ottawa; one grandson, Brandon Stokes of LaSalle; one granddaughter, Erin (Mike) Mindt of Milwaukee, WI; one great granddaughter, Marlee Mindt.
He was preceded death by his parents; one son, Lawrence; one daughter, Kristine Stine and son-in-law, Ron L. Stine; three sisters, Enis Dixon, Mary Lemme and Kathryn Harmon.
