Joseph M. Bontempo, 96, formerly of 339 Eastern St., New Haven and Four Rod Road, Hamden passed away Sept. 8, 2009 in Yale New Haven Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary H. Piatkowski Bontempo. Mr. Bontempo was born in New Haven March 12, 1913, son of the late Angelo and Theresa Biondi Bontempo. He graduated from Connecticut College of Commerce in 1947. Prior to that, he served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force in Newfoundland during World War II. At one time, he worked as a district manager for Gerber Baby Foods.
