Joseph “Joe” Lukasik, 67, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at his home.

He was born May 16, 1952 in Mt. Vernon, son of Frank Lukasik and Regina (Szopinski) Lukasik. He married Nancy Johannes on August 10, 1974 at St. Mary’s Church in Centralia and she survives in Centralia.

In addition to his wife of 45 years, Nancy Lukasik of Centralia, he is also survived by a daughter: Jennifer McNealy and husband Joshua of Creve Coeur, Missouri; a daughter-in-law: Sherri Lukasik of Christopher; four grandchildren: Taylor Lukasik of Mt. Vernon, Frank Lukasik of Christopher, Vincent McNealy and Adam McNealy both of Creve Coeur, Missouri; a brother: Leroy Lukasik and wife Johanna of Nashville; two sisters: Patricia Zelasko and husband Gene of Radom and Dorothy Woehrle and husband Bill of Mehlville, Missouri; three brothers-in-law: Donald “Donnie” Johannes of Salem, Richard Johannes and wife Misty of Walnut Hill, and Dennis Johannes and friend Jennifer of Centralia; two sisters-in-law: Barbara Harville and husband Doug of Shattuc and Mary Vosholler and husband Joe of Vernon; several nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Regina Lukasik, son: Joseph Lukasik, II, and father and mother-in-law: Osgood and Bessie Johannes.

Joe taught at St. Mary’s School in Centralia, St. Theresa School in Salem, and Ashley Grade School in Ashley for 30 years. Over the years, Joe would always treat his students as if they were his own children. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Centralia, where he was an Usher and also sang in the Choir. Joe started in 1967 with the IHSA refereeing Basketball and Volleyball games. He enjoyed colleting records, playing music, and fishing. Joe cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
