Rev. Joseph Lee Barr

 Joseph Barr, 84, was called Home by the Lord on Friday, March 28, 2014.  He was born to Everett and Collette (Duncan) Barr on June 9, 1929 at Beatrice, NE.  He was raised in the Mission Creek area outside of Liberty NE and graduated from Barneston High School, Tarkio College, and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. He later earned his Doctor of Divinity degree at Tarkio College.  Prior to seminary he served two years in the military. 
As a Presbyterian minister for over 40 years he shared his God given talents in the following communities: Cedar Creek/Murray NE, Butler PA, Minden NE, Wymore/Barneston/Mission Creek NE, Marysville/Frankfort KS.

He was preceded in death by parents Everett and Collette Barr, and brother JD.
Joe is survived by beloved wife of 56 years, Elizabeth, daughters Mary Beth (Bob Reiser); Cindy (Dave McNair); Karen (John O’Brien); sons Bob (Barb) and Bill; grandchildren David, Jake, Tyler (Tina) and Tucker McNair, Keara, Keely and Sean O’Brien, J.D. and Emily Barr, great-grand child Landen McNair; brother Bill (Norma Jean) and sister-in-law Myna Lee as well as many other loving relatives and friends.

Joe’s greatest joy was his time with immediate and extended family as well as his church families.  He loved retirement at the homestead that has been in his family for over 100 years. Joe enjoyed genealogy, gardening, reading, singing and sports. Joe lived a life of faith and service; he was a blessing to all who knew him.
