He retired in 1980 from General Motors He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene.
Joseph is survived by his wife whom he married September 1, 1942, Gaynelle Cox Stewart; children, Mark T. Stewart Judy of Anderson and Mary Jo McClure Craig of Anderson; grandchildren, Andy Stewart, Monica McNeil, Sarah Razo, and Nancy Presley; great-grandchildren, Cole Razo, Connor Razo, Alex Bodey, Brenna Razo, Kaeli Razo, Mason McNeil, Kevin Stewart, and Kristofer Stewart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Clare Hood Stewart, and siblings.
