Joseph L. Jett, 78, of Oaklandon, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at Kindred Health in Greenfield. He was born on February 6, 1936 to the late Joseph and Lorraine (Phillippe) Jett in Carlisle, IN. Mr. Jett received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana State University and served in the United States Marine Corp.
He was an educator for many years: at Monrovia High School, Lawrence Township, also coaching basketball at Craig Junior High, elementary school in Ingalls, and driver’s education. He was an active member of Outlook Christian Church, an avid golfer, and a sports enthusiast, especially basketball, baseball and football.
He is survived by his wife Joann (Brown) Jett, whom he married on November 4, 1960; sons Doug L. (Beth) Jett and Danny (Shelly) Jett, both of Greenfield; grandchildren: Jake, Chelsey, Katie and Corey; brothers Clay (Donna) Jett and Gerald (Wilma) Jett, both of Carlisle; aunts Geneva Davis and Mary Bottoms; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
