Joseph Kozicki, 93, died Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Monarch House in Newnan, Georgia. He leaves his wife of 68 years, Lucille (Ateniese) Kozicki; his daughters, Susan Quadrio, Lauren Benet, and Beverly Dunham, his nine grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Born in the village of Kodeniec in eastern Poland, the youngest son of Jozef and Helena (Benet) Kozicki, who had four sons and two daughters. Mr. Kozicki was the longest living among his five siblings. He emigrated to the United States (Massachusetts) alone in the years following World War II, learning to speak, read, and write English, and also learning a trade that would enable him to support a family. He met his wife at a dance in Passaic, New Jersey, where he ultimately lived, and raised a family until his retirement. Mr. Kozicki enjoyed a retirement of more than 30 years, in the southern climates of North Carolina and then Georgia. Mr. Kozicki had a passion for the outdoors, and loved nothing more than to walk, hike, and commune with nature, where he found peace and solace. He also enjoyed taking care of his one-acre retirement property. Another passion of his was playing the harmonica, which he taught himself to use, and singing Polish songs that he learned from his mother.
