Joseph Kingmann Child, 50, of Newnan, Georgia, passed away peacefully this Saturday evening, July 10, 2021. King, as he was lovingly called by all who knew him, was born on September 9, 1970, in Atlanta, Georgia. He lived in Dunwoody, Georgia, until 1988, when he moved with his family to Newnan. He attended East Coweta High School, where he was an avid participant in the Special Olympics, and graduated in 1993. While in high school, King began working at the Rutledge Center in Newnan, and he would continue to work there for over 25 years. King is preceded in death by his mother Patricia Payne Child and father Dr. Joseph John Child. He is survived by his three siblings Marlowe, Mandy, and Casey; his three step-siblings Lee, Park, and Mattie; and his stepmother Dr. Martha Lee Child. He is also survived by his fifteen nieces and nephews Whitney, Derrick, Charlie, Patti, Brooks, Betsy, Porter, Cameron, Grier, Forrest, McRae, Mary, Sister, Magnolia, and Jona. King will be remembered by all who knew him for his love of music, his infectious smile and laugh, his great hugs, and his happy spirit. He had a near perfect memory for friends from his childhood, and he loved nothing more than talking on the phone with friends and family. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the numerous caregivers in King’s life. Their love and support have been immeasurable.
