Joseph John Gulas, 63, of Clarksburg passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was born in Clarksburg March 3, 1948, the son the late Joe Gulas and Izabella Micsko Gulas who survives. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Brown Gulas, whom he married December 16, 1967. Also surviving are two daughter; Lisa Gulas Lilly and husband Brent, Bridgeport, Joanna Kay Gulas and fiancée Robert Dale Nutter Jr., Bridgeport; one granddaughter, Kathrine Izabella “Katie” Lilly, a student at West Virginia University. Also surviving are three brothers; Frank Gulas and wife Darletta, Salem, George Gulas, Salem, Anthony Gulas, Clarksburg, and one sister; Ethel Gulas, Clarksburg and several nieces , nephews and great nieces and great nephews. After graduating from Washington Irving High School, Joe served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for several glass factories throughout his career. Most recently, Joe was employed by, and retired from the WV Division of Highways at Gore. He loved his job at the State Road and the camaraderie he had with his co-workers there. Their friendship and support was a source of great comfort to him and his family during his illness. In his spare time, Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his cat, Oliver, his dog, Yoda, and his parrot, Petey. Joe was known for being a quiet, hard working man who chose the simple way of life and that is how he wanted to be remembered.
