Joseph Ellis “Joe” Teel, 87, Macy and formerly of Twelve Mile, passed away at 5:02 a.m. on Friday Morning, April 1, 2011 at his daughters residence in Athens, Indiana.

Born May 25, 1923 near Perrysburg, he was the son of William R. and Jessica E. Lockwood Teel.

Joe was a 1942 graduate of Deedsville High School.

Joe was best known for the way he cocked his hat on his head and for telling stories of long ago. Some of the best included his best friend Jr. Mills, and with several of his nieces and nephews, Susie Bell, Punk, Skeeter, and Meat Rind.

Besides telling stories, Joe liked to work, he was always busy outside, he farmed up until the 1970’s and also worked outside the home with his cousins and son-in-law, Larry at Millers Sawmill in Perrysburg and later at Van Duynes in Rochester.

Joe enjoyed farming and gardening even in the recent few years, planing and caring for over 600 gladiolas in his yard. He was very proud of them and encouraged people to stop by and pick a bunch to take home or just to drive by and admire them. He also grew peach trees and tulips which he loved very much.

Surviving are three daughters, Jolynn Rouch, Rochester/Gary Troyer, Logansport; Sonja Miller and husband Larry, Perrysburg; and Pat Coffing, Rochester; grandchildren; grandchildren: Chad and Kayla (Oberg) Schneider, Zack and Cassie Schneider, Jessica Bruce, Laynie and Abbey Rouch, Gail and Randy Troyer, Deb and Russell Cornelison, Cody Joe and Rynae Miller, Rod and Robbie Coffing, Tonya and Kyle O’Farrell; great grandchildren, Jayden and Cali Schneider, Emma Schneider, Megan and Cory Holland, Zach and Abigail Troyer, and Katlin and Ryan O’Farrell; one great-great granddaughter, Payton Day Marie; one sister, Naomi Knauff, Peru; one sister-in-law, Alice Teel, Macy; several nieces and nephews; his extended family of Ora and Ann Clemons along with their children; and his former wife Betty L. Richardson Opple Teel.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Glen Teel and two sisters, Vilma Glendenning and Mary Wideman and one great-grandson, Trevon Patrick Browning, and one son-in-law, Brian Rouch.
