DURHAM Mr. Joseph Darold Sams, Sr., of Durham, died on Wednesday, September 13, . Sams was born in Greenville, SC, the son of the late Carlos Sams and Beatrice Rogers Sams. He proudly served in the U. S. Army until retiring. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He was preceded in death by his brother, Walter Sams; sisters, Zoria (Sis) Williams, and Trudy is survived by his wife, Darlene Sams; son, Joseph Darold Sams, Jr. and wife, Jennifer of Creedmoor; daughter, Stacey Lynn Bezek of Durham; sisters, Faye Way of Hillsborough, Hershal House; grandchildren, Dustin West, Ashley West, Charis Sams and great-grandchildren, Jessie and Joseph West.m.
