Joseph Henry Judith, III

August 26, 1944 – September 1, 2022

Joseph Henry Judith III passed peacefully surrounded by his wife and children on September 1, 2022 in Sheridan, Arkansas.

Known as Joe to his maternal relatives and J as he requested friends and colleagues to call him, was the son of Sidonia Wuensche Judith and Joseph Henry Judith II. He was born and reared in Corpus Christi, Texas, attended private military school in San Antonio, Texas A&M University, and Stephen F. Austin State University where he earned his degree and certification for Elementary Education teacher (1967), Special Education teacher for four additional specializations (1968- 1974), Educational Diagnostician (1972), Supervisor (1972), Administrator (1975), and Special Education Supervisor (1976). He began his career in Irving ISD and served as Director of Special Education in Carthage ISD, Beaumont ISD, Ft. Bend ISD, and concluded his career as an Elementary School principal in Beaumont ISD and ultimately Sheridan, Arkansas.  During his career as an educator, he was instrumental in founding the state professional organization Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education (TCASE) where he served several terms as a state officer. J was innovative as he introduced new ideas and technology while serving as a central office or campus administrator and earned recognition as a progressive educator.

Although he concluded his career as an elementary principal in Arkansas, he remained a true son of Texas and never lost his love for and appreciation of Texas Aggies, pickup trucks, cowboy boots, Dr. Pepper, BBQ, and his dog. He delighted in being known as “ Papa Bear” to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Pierce Judith of Sheridan; sons, John Dixon (Mignonne) of Wesley Chapel, Florida, Jeff Dixon (Amanda) of Fort Smith, Zach Owens of Malvern; daughters, Ashley Judith Resendez (Phillip) of Houston, Texas, Kelli Gotshall (Russell) of St. Petersburg, Florida; grandchildren, Presley, Riley and Gracie.
