FITCHBURG – Joe LaCroix 76, of Fitchburg, MA, formerly from Winchendon, MA, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022, at Alliance Health at Baldwinville-Beacon Hospice after a battle with cancer.

He was born in Fitchburg, MA, on May 10, 1945, and was the son of the late Joseph G. and Irene R. (LaRoche) LaCroix. Known to many as “Little Joe”, he was a used car dealer, owning Cormier Auto Sales, Inc. in Leominster, MA. Later moving to Winchendon, MA, where he owned and ran Lake Street Motors and also owned and ran “The Barn” on Route 12 in Winchendon, MA, with his life partner Maggie. They collected and sold antiques on the weekends for many years. He was a NASCAR fan, loved car shows, and built custom hotrods.

Joe spent most of his life on the track driving the #50, as a member of the NHSTRA (New Hampshire Short-Track Racing) at Monadnock, Hudson, Lee USA, and Claremont Speedways. He was a member of the Jaffrey Ice Racing Association, Lake Region Ice Racing Club and Lake Whalom Ice Racing Association. Also was a member of the Eastwood Club of Fitchburg, MA.

He leaves two sons Joe LaCroix of Jaffrey, NH and David LaCroix of Fitchburg, MA; daughter Julie Cormier and her husband Roger of Royalston, MA; four grandchildren Cody, Josh, Jeremy and Katelyne; and several great-grandchildren; sister Linda Martin of Kennesaw, GA; also an extended family of Timothy Robichaud, John Jalbert, Chris Ballas and the Day family. Joe was predeceased by his “Angel” and partner in life, Marguerite Stockwell, who passed away on November 25, 2019 and his brother Ronald LaCroix, who passed away in 2000.
