Joseph M. Fox, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away in peace on Friday October 23, 2015. He was the devoted and loving husband of Mary M. Fox, whom he was happily married to for 70 years.
A native of Bethlehem, he served his country in the US Marine Corps during World War II as an air gunman in the fighter plane, the Dauntless Dive Bomber, from 1943 to 1945. Upon his return home from his tour in the South Pacific, he married the love of his life, Mary Toth, at St. John Capistrano Catholic Church of South Side Bethlehem on June 9, 1945. Their eldest son, Joseph “Butchie” Fox, followed in his father’s footsteps by serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He returned to the US, but was called home by our heavenly Father just prior to his military discharge. His untimely death was deeply felt by his father, mother, and three siblings. Joseph worked in the beam yard at Bethlehem Steel Corp., retiring in 1978. He was a good provider for his family, and remodeled three houses for his family to live in. Joseph will be dearly missed by his family.
Survivors: He leaves behind a lasting legacy with his adoring wife, Mary Fox; his son Richard Fox; daughters Sharon Fox Zurick and her husband Charles Zurick, and Doreen Fox Polak and her husband Joseph Polak. He is also survived by five grandchildren Brandon Zurick, Hayley Bedics, Megan Polak, Ashley Polak and Joseph Polak.
