Joseph Francis Burkhart, 78, of Freeport, died Saturday, December 2, 2006 at Freeport Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Born October 23, 1928 in Normal, IL he was the son of Frank and Eunice (Gaston) Burkhart. In August of 1961 he married Charlestine M. Griffin.
Joseph was a member of St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and a veteran of WWII.
He had been retired for many years.
He was an avid Pool and Dart player and loved to cook.
Surviving is his wife, Charlestine; of Chicago; two sons, Joseph F. Burkhart Jr. of Chicago and Jerome S. Burkhart of Crown Point, Minn.; four daughters, Geraldine (Chester) Finklea , Joann M. Burkhart, Myrtis G. Burkhart and Michelle M. Eiland all of Chicago. One sister Betty Gregory of Rockford; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.
