Joseph Eugene Morris, 71, passed away August 28, 2022, in Ogden, Utah. He was born April 6, 1951, to Hattie Timmons and Joe Lee Gills in Shreveport, Louisiana where he spent his childhood.

Joseph joined the New Orleans Job Corp and transferred to the San Marcos Job Corp where he led the Blue Lights Combo band. He graduated and came to Clearfield, Utah. He loved to play gospel and blues on his guitar and bass. He taught his children to love and to play music and was the leader of the Morris 7 family band. He was also a lead guitarist for local bands like Utah Travelers and Controversy. He loved hosting block parties with family, friends and neighbors to connect and promote a better sense of community.

He was a member of Griffin Memorial and he and his children played music for the church. He married Jane D Lewis, now Carlysle, in 1992 and divorced in 2000. Joseph was a welder by profession for many years and earned many certifications and accommodations throughout his welding career. He welded for many companies and was a self-taught man who loved to learn and share his knowledge.

Joseph is survived by his children Olajuwaan-Lorenzo Lewis, Aaron Xavier Morris, Isadore Absolom Lewis Morris, Joseph Eugene Morris Jr, Iesha Demery, Anthony Hall, Anton Fitz, Rahsaan Morris and Keisha Alexandria; many, many grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; 6 sisters and 3 brothers and his fiancé Diane Frazier. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Teresa, Florida, Earlie and brother Samuel.
