Mr. Joseph Ernest James, Sr., age 88, of Salem, WV passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 enroute to United Hospital Center. Mr. James was born on August 30, 1925 in Gassaway, WV a son to the late Walter Leland and Isabelle Ross James. He served in the US Army during World War II, retired from Dominion Gas, attended Salem Church of God, loved to hunt and fish, spending time with his loving family, and reading God’s word. He is survived by his 2 sons and daughter-in-law, Joseph E. James, Jr., of Salem, Frank and Diane James, of Salem; daughters and son-in-laws, Sharon Marie and Cecil Knight, of Salem, Beverly Jean Eddy, of Salem, Sheila Mae Jandreau, of Fl, Cheryl and Marlin Ballou, of Fl; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Walter James and Russell Ford James, both of Ohio; several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Freda Mae Browning James, 2 daughters, Carolyn and Valerie James, 1 brother, and 6 sisters.
