Joseph Merle Eitel, 84, was taken home to his Creator on the evening of September 3, 2016. Born and raised on a farm in Ethel, Missouri, he grew up an only child in a place with no electricity or running water; with a mother, Fay, who died when he was 12, and a father, Sylvester, who died when he was 22. Like his father, a veteran who served in WWI, he too was a veteran and served in the Korean War. His life, thereafter, became the woman he married and the family they created together. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace; by his daughter and her husband, Jan and David Griffith; by his son, Doug Bundy, and grandson, Greg Bundy. Better known as Joe (or Joey, or Daddy), he was a much loved son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He never knew a stranger, and was cherished by all who knew him, including countless passengers who boarded his bus during his over 35 year career as a driver for the Kansas City Area Transit Authority. Raised by Christians, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ; and one of his favorite past times became hearing and discussing the words of God with his daughter.
Acknowledgements: The family sincerely appreciates the prayers, sympathy, support, and all the expressions of kindnesses being bestowed upon them at this time. May God bless all those “earth angels” who were here for Joe; and who are still here for his family.
