Joseph Donato, 89, of 19 Sturbridge Lane, Woodbridge, died Feb. 13, 2009 in Harborside Willows of Woodbridge. He was the husband of 64 years to Rose Potenziani Donato. Mr. Donato was born in New Haven Jan. 1, 1920, son of the late Simon & Mary Mattei Donato. He was a retired carpenter and building contractor. He served four terms on the Board of Selectmen in Woodbridge and also served on the Fire Commission. He was a charter member of the New Haven Philatelic Society and a member of Russell Council No.65, Knights of Columbus. During World War II, he served as a Technical Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, flying more than 50 missions over Italy and North Africa.
