Joseph D. Belliveau, 95, of Danvers passed away peacefully on Friday, December 31, 2021, at his home in Danvers surrounded by his family.
He was the devoted husband of the late Marie Mariette (Comeau) Belliveau who predeceased him in 1989. They shared 31 years of marriage.
Born in Belliveau Cove, Nova Scotia Canada, he was the son of Louis Belliveau and Zelphie (Theriault) Belliveau and was the third of fifteen children.
Joseph attended school until he left to help run the family farm at age 17 when his father enlisted to serve in World War II. He spent his teens and early 20s logging in the woods in Nova Scotia with his own team of horses. He also worked on a gypsum boat in his younger years, traveling from Newfoundland to the Caribbean. He came to live in Danvers, MA in 1958 shortly after marrying.
After retirement, he was an avid square dancer with the Riverside Squares, made many trips back to Nova Scotia, and also enjoyed riding his motorcycle well into his 70s.
Joseph’s time away from work was always spent with his family. He leaves two daughters, Linda and her husband Nyrik Huuskonen of Danvers and their two daughters Shantel Huuskonen (Taylor) and his great-granddaughter Avery Bambury. Katia (Ian) Samuelson and his great-granddaughter due in June.
His daughter Carol Hebert and her husband John of Danvers, and their three children Brian, Lianna and Kevin.
Joseph was predeceased by his brothers Philip, Hector, Louis, and Jean, and his sisters Pauline, Zellie, Nellie, and Claire. He is survived by sisters Corine, Claudette, Hugette and Renette, and brothers Julien and Hubert. He also leaves his companion of many years Eleanor Neil, and friends Howard and Jan Taggart.
