Joseph Anton Ventura (Dec. 24, 1930 to Jan. 20, 2014) was a beloved husband, father and friend. Born in Joliet, Ill.
The lifetime Chicago Cubs fan moved to Bisbee, Ariz., in 1974 and made his home in Sierra Vista, where he retired from Kitt Peak National Observatory.
Joe was a member of the Air Corps and veteran of the Korean War. Joe was an original member of the “Drugstore Cowboys,” and was known to say he “invented the cherry Coke.” In his later years, he loved to play softball and has eight Senior Olympics medals displayed in his home. He also loved to sing karaoke — Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” in particular.
Joe is waiting to be joined by his wife of 60 years, Audrey, their four children — Sandy (Marc Kaplan), Lynn (Paul Jerome), Margie (Christina Sandoval), Tony (Kim Ventura), numerous grandchildren and Roy Rivas.
