Joseph Anthony Rist, Jr., of Fishkill, NY passed away on May 12, 2022.  Joseph was born on March 4, 1933, to Joseph and Stella (Kaminsky) Rist of Tomkins Cove, NY.

Joseph graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1950 and then enlisted in the Army’s 25th Infantry Division serving during the Korean War.  He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Korean Service Medal, and the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during a battle on Heartbreak Ridge in 1952.

Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Carol Ann (Glashoff), his four loving children; Joseph (Jean Uva), Karen, Robin, and Kristine (Tim) Strassburg.  He will also be lovingly remembered by his nine cherished grandchildren; Nicole, Stephanie, Courtney, Mace, Lindsay, Zachery, Tylar, Kyle, and Christopher.  He cherished them all and each held a very special place in his heart.

Upon returning from active duty, Joseph worked for Traprock Corporation (Tilcon) for 7 years until his appointment in 1965 by House of Representative Richard Ottinger to the USPS Rural Carrier position in Garrison New York, where he worked until his retirement after 30 years.

Joseph was best known for his love of his family, and his best friends (Donnie Hanson and Bob Ramppen).  His love of the outdoors, traveling, metal detecting, and spending time enjoying his property in Worcester, NY, is where he found peace, tranquility, and serenity.  Especially when his family came to visit.
