Joe was born July 29, 1941. After high school, Joe became a computer programmer. Early in his career Joe began working for Labcorp (formally Roche Biomedical) and eventually became a Vice President of the IT department.  He retired from Labcorp at the age of 62 after over 35 years of service.

During his 61 years of marriage to Karen, Joe moved his family from the East Side of Columbus OH to the North Side, then finally to Burlington NC. Joe has enjoyed supporting his 10 children, his 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.  Joe stayed active by going to youth sporting events, as well as chorus and band concerts.  As a lifelong Catholic, he enjoyed supporting Blessed Sacrament Church and Blessed Sacrament School. During his retirement, Joe enjoyed and explored Burlington with daily bike rides and walks.

Joe Zang was a company man, but his family always came first.  He had a comedic streak that you only saw if you knew him well.  One of his last gifts to his family was a wry smile at some joke or memory that was shared.

The family thanks Authoracare Collective for providing wonderful hospice care and a special thank you to Cathy Edwards for giving Joe loving homecare.
