Joseph “Joe” Bradie Hill, age 13, died on March 2, 2011 in Duke Medical Center, Durham, NC after a courageous battle with leukemia. Joe was born on March 20, 1997. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Ralph and Vi Hill and his maternal grandfather, Bradie Brown. Joe was also predeceased by a special great-uncle, Aubrey Richardson. Joe is survived by his parents, Jim and Penny Hill and his brother, James of the residence. Survivors also include his maternal grandmother, Claudine Brown, a very special great-aunt, Bernice Richardson, his uncle Bobby Brown of Clayton, NC, his aunt, Mary Grace Shealy and husband, Eddie, his cousin, Charlie Shealy and wife, Ashlie and daughter, Madelyn, and his cousin, Jenny Shealy and her friend, Bobby Wyatt. Joe was an eighth grade student at Dan River Middle School where he was involved in the mentoring program. Joe loved sports. He played for the Southside Soccer Club; he played baseball for Danville Little League; wrestled for Southside Wrestling Club, and played fullback and linebacker for Dan River Middle School’s football team. Joe was greatly respected by his fellow teammates and opponents. Joe was a member of Blairs Baptist Church. Joe’s church family was so very supportive during his illness.
