Joseph Andrew Turner, 94 years, of rural Jacksonville, IL died September 9, 2006 at the Barton W. Stone Home in Jacksonville.
He was born October 25, 1911 in Cass County, IL; the son of Joseph Jackson and Elizabeth Gebhardt Turner. He married Marietta A. Hall on July 8, 1945 in Morgan County, IL and she survives.
He is also survived by a son, Joseph Albert Turner (wife, Carol) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rolla Fae Turner in 1955; two brothers, Russell Turner and Julian Turner; and three sisters, Marie Nordsiek, Louise Trenter, and Elizabeth Smith.
Mr. Turner was a 1930 graduate of Chandlerville High School and served with the US Army during WW II from 1942 to 1945 as a member of the 95th Field Artillery during the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau. In years past, he was active in the former Jacksonville Golden K Kiwanis Club.
