LO GUIDICE Joseph A., 86, a life long resident of the Jersey City “Marion Section”, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2006, at Jersey City Medical Center.

Joseph served 3 years in the U.S. Army with the Texas Infantry or T-Patch Division, 143rd Infantry Regiment during WWII.  Joseph was involved in the landings at Salerno, Anzio & Southern France, and saw continuous action at the battles of Montecassino, San Pietro & crossing of the Rapido River.

Joseph was awarded the silver star for gallantry in action in France, by single handedly destroying 3 enemy machine gun nests & halting a German counter attack.  He also received the combat infantry badge.

Joseph returned to the “Marion Section” of Jersey City a war hero to reunite with his 2 brothers who served in the Army & Army Aircorps.  He was very proud of his service to his country and rarely in 60 years did he ever speak of his war years but everyone in the neighborhood knew him as a very brave man.

After service, Joseph worked in the Bayonne Shipyards.  Before retiring, Joseph was self employed in the recycling business.

Devoted father of Judy Daly & Frank Lo Guidice, loving grandfather of Christie, Kevin & Laurie, cherished great-grandfather of Kaliegh & Stacia, dear brother of Grace Accardi & the late Thomas, Anthony, Charles & Alphonse J. Lo Guidice, beloved son of the late Frank & Josephine (nee Ferrara), also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.
