Joseph A. Howerton, 85, passed away at St. Vincent Hospice on February 10, 2013.

He was born on August 26, 1927 in Alexandria. 1 Corinthians 2:9 “No eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love him.” He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1946 and retired from Delco-Remy Division of General Motors after 36 years of service. Joe attended the Florida Station Church of God in Anderson and the Christian Congregation Church in Alexandria.  He loved traveling with his wife and watching his grandson play Frankton High School Basketball. He also enjoyed all sports immensley.

Joe is survived by his loving wife and best friend; Mary Bond Howerton, children; Teresa Ron Cook, Beverly Gavin Korn, Karen Will Carpenter, Sheila Ashley, Gary Linda Howerton, Susan Denny Jones, and Terry Howerton. grandchildren; Brigette Cook, Dustin Cook, Stacy Ramsey, Brandon Dillon, John Korn, Aaron Korn, Stephanie Vetter, Cassandra Pring, Justin Vetter, Kenra Mroz, Brad Carpenter, and Matt Carpenter. Several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Nephews; Bill Sue Steele and Kevin Debbie Howerton; great-nephew; Brent Keri Brobston. nieces; Janet Fred Heidorn, Linda David Knotts, Judy Bill Brobston, Janet Roger Henley, and Jean Gene Lennis. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Margie Barnes and Emma Scott and several other loving friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandpa and grandma Howerton, sister; Mae Steele, brother; Bob Howerton, and nephew; Chuck Steele.
