HAVERHILL – Joseph A.F. Cardran, 90, lifelong resident of Haverhill passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Brighton.
Joseph was born in Haverhill on October 19, 1923, son of the late Joseph A. and Anna E. (Zakarosky) Cardran. He attended Haverhill Schools, and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School.
He is a Veteran of WWII having served in the Pacific with the United States Marine Corps.
Husband of the late Pauline (Dupuis) Cardran who passed in April of 2013.
Joseph worked for many years for Marble Motors Co. of Haverhill as a General Motors Teamster Mechanic. His passion was umpiring baseball games from little league through college baseball. He was a former President and very active with the MVUA (Merrimack Valley Umpires Association). He also licensed others who were training to be umpires.
Joseph’s surviving family members include his loving children, Gary F. Cardran and wife Edie of Haverhill, Paula Cardran of Bradford, Cheryl Cardran of New York City and Linda Pearce and husband Gregory of North Reading; grandchildren, Jennifer Meek and husband William, Trisha Koskey and Veronica Cardran; great-grandson, Joseph Meek; sister, Marion Ouellette and husband Paul of Haverhill; also several nieces and nephews.
