Josefa “Pepi” Boda passed away December 30th after a long illness. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ms. Boda was born February 4th, 1929 in Spain to Gerardo Barrena and Beatriz Marroco. She left home at a young age due to the economic unrest under Franco. She traveled and worked across Spain, eventually moving to England in 1959. There she met Victor Boda from Hungary. Neither one of them spoke much English, but they communicated with a Spanish/Hungarian dictionary and soon fell in love.
They married in London and began raising their children there. In 1979 they immigrated to the US always striving for a better life. They finally settled in Raleigh. Ms Boda was a devoted mother and wife. She was a fantastic cook and prepared the most delicious Sunday lunches. She had an unending supply of jokes to tell anyone who would listen, some of which might make you blush. She was very artistic and loved to cross stitch pillows, knit and draw.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ms. Boda is survived by her daughter Beatrice Boda her husband Tommie Wiggins, her daughter Mary-Anne Collins her husband Bill, grandchildren Aidan and Jason, her sister Marina Barrena and many nieces and nephews in Spain .
