Josefa B. (Carril) Dorer

 United States

  • Date Of Birth: March 19, 1923
  • Date Of Death: June 8, 2019
  • State: Maryland

On June 8, 2019 Josefa crossed over to her eternal life with the Lord due to natural causes.
Josefa is the wife of WWII veteran Charles F. Dorer who predeceased her in 2009.  At the end of the war they met in her hometown of Belem-PA Brazil where she was a physical education teacher.  They got married and his first civilian assignment with the US Weather Bureau was at St. John Island (not bad!).  In only a few years they moved to Baltimore which is where Charles was from. Josefa officially became a US Citizen in 1954.
She was the most loyal Mom to 4 children, Adelaide, Lillian (predeceased her in 1983), Charles, Jr. and John, raising them in Alexandria, VA due to Charles job location.  After her children were older in school she started working part time as a contractor for the US government running crash courses for teaching Portuguese to civilian and military personnel.
Josefa was a member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Springfield, VA and later Christ Lutheran in Baltimore, as they relocated to Millersville, MD since 1975 where they retired there at the end of Charles’ career.
She is known for being the most optimistic, loving and caring person you would ever meet.  She had more concern about her family and friends than herself; always put others first and had the most unflappable belief in Jesus Christ as her Savior and key to eternal life.  The family celebrates that we had her in our lives up to her age of 96, but that also makes it harder to lose her because we had so many years of great memories.

Josefa was proud to have been blessed with 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.  She is fondly held in memory by her Brazilian extended family, many neighbors and friends.
