March 20, 1934 – January 30, 2022

“A loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather.” 

Jose Celestial Dojillo Sr., 87 years old, of San Diego, CA passed away on January 30, 2022 at The Shores Post-Acute.  

When Jose was younger, he was the eldest and only male child in his family. So when Jose was 11 years old, he began to assist his father with the familial responsibilities, especially at the farm taking care of cows. Jose’s dedication and hard work carried on into his later years as a seaman and he completed college in the Philippines with a major in Mechanical Engineering. However, he didn’t pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering. Instead, Jose decided to serve as a cook at the Naval Station in Olongapo City, Philippines.  As years passed, he had been a faithful and supportive husband.  He later became a widow and was left with his children whom he loved dearly.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Julio & Valeriana Dojillo; his wives, Teresita U. Dojillo (first marriage) and Gloria C. Dojillo (second marriage); his sisters, Yolanda Dojillo, Milagros Domens, Marilou Arias, and Annie Escobar; his sister-in-law, Remedios Uyangurin; his daughter, Geraldine Dojillo; his son, Jose Dojillo, Jr.; and his stepchild, Amabella Camba.

Jose is survived by his sister, Dolores Peralta; his children, Arleen & Valerio Angel, Maria Jocelyn Kirkland, Marilene Dojillo, & Derrick Shearer, Nancy & Al Maliwat, and Normita & Genaro Ronquillo; and, his stepchildren, Roberto Camba & Lourdes Mendoza. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel Ann Leboda; Genel, Geremy, Glenn, & Gelina Ronquillo; Jazmin & Xitlali Sanchez; Alexander Maliwat; Jervin & Jericho Dojillo; Arielle, Jayden, Ghail, Nevaeh, Melaeh, Izaeh, & Desarine.
