Jose Angel De Leon, 78, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, April 23, 2017, in Harlingen, Texas. He was born on October 1, 1938, in Santa Maria, Texas. He was raised in Harlingen by his parents the late Jesus Sr. and Dionicia T. De Leon.
Jose is preceded in death by his brothers, Amador De Leon and Fr. Edward De Leon O.M.I.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Gloria G. De Leon; his children, Debora (William) McMillin, Daniel (Adriana Alicia) De Leon, Diane (Michael L.) De Leon Simmons, and David De Leon; 2 grandchildren, Alexis Simmons and Mykal Zoi Simmons; brother and sisters, Jesus (Clementina) De Leon Jr., Dora (Frank) Garcia, Connie (Orlando) Colmenero, Rosie (Phil) De Leon-McCrady, and Teresa (Phil) Kreger; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Jose was a great educator of 37 years with the Harlingen Independent School District. He taught at Coakley Junior High and at Harlingen South High School.
His hobbies were collecting antiques, refinishing furniture to his liking, an avid reader seeking knowledge about anything that would make life easier. Before the internet was here he was the one person we could count on to get the project done right.
