Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend Jose Angel Chavez Sr., 75, passed away June 14, 2022 in Ogden, Utah. He was born June 9, 1947 to Francisco Chavez and Lorenza Zuniga in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
He attended Weber State College and was a member of The Church of Latter-day Saints. He married Aurelia Valdez on June 15, 1974 in Wells, Nevada. He enjoyed his lovely companions Maria Del Carmen Gonzalez Orozco and Debra Johanson. He later married Diana E. Ramirez Meneses on August 28, 1995 in Ogden, Utah.
He was a barber and owned and operated Jose’s Haircuts. Many times Jose charged less for haircuts and would buy Mexican tamales from his friends. He helped his community and enjoyed working with the elderly. National Geographic, Discovery and History Channels were his favorites.
The family especially wants to thank his wife’s family in Mexico who were so dear to him. Also, to Fellowship Manor Apartments and management for all their love and support during his illness, Alfonso Ramirez and Josefina Ramirez for always visiting him, and to the University of Utah during the time he spent there, Sara Norma Meneses, JR Rivera, President and Sister Taggart Frost, Wes Riches, all his nephews and nieces and Steve Goff his long-time client who always paid him double.
Jose is survived by his wife Diana, children Shaylene Chavez, Olga Gonzalez, Shayla Valdez, Joey Chavez, Sheila Valdez, and Joshua Chavez, 33 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
