Joni Lyn Dille passed away the morning of June 1st, 2022 in her home state of Colorado. She was 52 years of age. She was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa to her parents Norman Nelsen and Charlene Hemminger on January 8th, 1970.
Joni grew up in Iowa with her older brother Mark Nelsen and younger sister Christi Koch. Her brother and her had a close relationship even though, as siblings do, picked on one another incessantly. Joni and Christi shared a special bond. Christi saw Joni as the cool big sister and always knew Joni was protective of her. Alongside her brother and sister was Joni’s very best friend Sara Hemminger. Sara and Joni could always confide in one another and looked to each other for guidance.
Clay and Joni married at the Country Club in their hometown of Harlan, Iowa in 1994. Shortly thereafter had a beautiful daughter, Anna Elizabeth Dille on the 24th day of November 1995. Joni, her husband Clay Dille and her daughter Anna Dille moved to Woodland Park, Colorado in 2001.
Joni’s love for her daughter and family was unequivocal. Her mother Charlene and her shared a love for bargain shopping as well as Christmas. There wasn’t a Christmas that they did not spend in one another’s company. Each year on Christmas Eve hamburger pizza was a must. Spaghetti was a close second. Joni had a burning passion for marine animals and her cats Aurora and Angel. Her daughter wanted to pursue a career in Marine Biology due to Joni’s love for sea life. When it came to music Joni greatly enjoyed country music, so much so that she fell asleep to it every night.
Along with the good comes the bad, Joni’s life wasn’t always fair. She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and suffered for many years. Some years after on February 6th, 2012 Joni and Clay suffered an unbearable loss of their daughter Anna. Life was never the same.
Joni was truly one-of-a-kind; she had a warm and kind heart. She was loved by many. There are broken hearts everywhere yet, Joni is no longer suffering and has now joined her daughter Anna, her mother Charlene and father Norm in the clouds, soaring with birds, swimming with dolphins and riding on John Deere tractors off into the sunset. You will FOREVER be loved and missed.
Joni is survived by her husband Clay Dille of Woodland Park, CO. Brother and niece Mark Nelsen and Brandy Nelsen of Woodland Park, CO. Sister and brother-in-law Christi and Adam Koch along with their two children Alyssa and Joel of Omaha, NE. Stepmom Sandy Nelsen of Harlan, IA. Stepdad Tom Johns of Omaha, NE. Mother-in-law Marilyn Dille of Harlan, IA. As well as best friend Sara Hemminger Omaha, NE.
