Celebrating the Life of Jonathan

Jonathan Mark McCarter (John) was born February 22, 1991 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to Elder James and Evangelist Marie McCarter . He was baptized in Jesus’ name at the a early age of five and later received the Holy Ghost. He became a member of Jesus Apostolic Church under the leadership of his father, Elder James McCarter. He later became a mem-ber of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where he was an active member until he was called home to be with the Lord.

John loved to sing praises to the Lord and he was often found stud-ying his Bible. If someone started a Scripture verse, most of the time he was able finish quoting it. He loved the Lord with all his heart. He always found time to tell someone about the God’s love and invite them to church. John knew that life on earth was just a temporary living place. He often said, “Everyone has to die sometime. When I go, I will be with grandma Vera and papa Louis.”

John attended Hillcrest Middle School where he was the manager of the boy’s basketball team. He graduated in May 2009 from Hillcrest High School. After high school he became the manager of the Shelton State Junior College women’s basketball team. He also volunteered for the Harvest Hands food bank at University Church of Christ . There he was always encouraging everyone to go to church and read their Bible.

Jonathan was excited about the Auburn Tigers football team and the Golden State Warriors basketball. team. However, he was most excit-ed about becoming an uncle this coming August.

Jonathan leaves loving memories to cherish, his parents Elder James and Evangelist Marie McCarter; three brothers, Anthony (Tasha) McCarter, Gerald McCarter, Matthew (Imani) McCarter; uncles, Edward (Alvera) McCarter, Frederick (Shirley) Smith, Leonard Smith; aunts Walterlean Neal, Irene (Lester) Norwood, Sandra (Alford) Rayner, Denise (Arthur)Carter, Jackie Kelly; and a host of cousins, and dear friends.
