Jon Scott Blanch, 69, passed away peacefully at home on August 24, 2022.  He was born May 22, 1953, in Ogden, UT to Harold and Margaret Blanch.  Scott grew up in Ogden and attended Bonneville Elementary, Highland Jr. High, and graduated from Ben Lomond High School Class of 1971.  He excelled in football, basketball, and tennis.

Scott married his wife and companion of 52 years, Lorrie Fuhriman, on January 2, 1983, in Elko, Nevada.  They are the parents of two children.  Scott had a huge heart, he loved his family, immediate and extended, and was so proud of all he, Lorrie, and their children accomplished.  He supported and helped all of his family any time they needed without judgment or hesitation.  You would often hear Scott tell people “Hey, isn’t she beautiful” as he hugged Lorrie.  Scott had a very special bond with his grandchildren, and they have many wonderful memories of Grandpa that they will cherish forever.

Scott worked at HAFB for 34 years.  He was a member of the AFGE Local 1592, and the president of Council 214.  Scott was passionate about the work he did with AFGE and enjoyed the people and experiences that he encountered over the years.  The family has many fond memories of the AFGE conventions, Christmas parties, Lagoon days, and the people that became a second family for Scott.

Scott loved to garden and had arguably one of the best green thumbs out there.  He and Lorrie spent hours in the garden every spring, summer, and fall harvesting delicious vegetables that they would share with neighbors, friends, and family.  Scott also loved hunting and fishing, especially at Ferron Reservoir in the Manti-La Sal National Forest.  Scott found the mountains and outdoors to be very therapeutic.  Scott worked the Blanch family farm in his earlier years hauling hay and beets and milking 50-70 head of cow before and after school.  He loved the farm and often shared stories with his kids and grandkids about that.  He was a “True Democrat” and had such a passion for people.

Scott is survived by his wife, Lorrie, daughter Hannah (Josh) Gard; 6 grandchildren, Cade, Luke, Nox, Bailey, Tagen, and Mylee; sister, Jan (Bob) Farrell; and brother, Hal Blanch.  He was preceded in death by his son, Jonah Shelby Blanch; his parents; parents in law; and his brother, Troy Ray “Bootne” Blanch.
