Jon Graham Smith, 82 passed away peacefully at the Moundville Health & Rehab on Sunday, Oct 30th, 2022.  She was born on March 4th, 1940, in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.

She is preceded in death by her mother Kate Nelson Graham, her father Simon Nelson Graham and her brother Joseph A Graham.

Survivors include her sons, Joel Douglas Smith, his wife Sharon and their 2 sons and Warren David Smith, his wife Carla, and their  5 children, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Jon loved being with her family and friends. She pursued many interests in her life including tennis, snow skiing, boating, horseback riding, hiking, needlepoint, reading, piano and swimming. Jon was involved in many theatrical productions and often sang solo in the choir in church and the local Corral singing group. She was actively involved in the Jr Service league and Legacy Link. Jon was very proud of her Scottish heritage and participated in the Graham Clan for many years. She attended the Scottish Highland Games in GA and NC quite often. She also enjoyed her trips to Europe and many other destinations in the US and Mexico. Jon’s father was a Lt Colonel in the US Army and her family lived in several European countries in her early life. Jon spent most of her life in Gainesville Ga. Her later years were spent in Moundville Al to be close to family.

Jon received  a bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina Greensboro in education and taught music in elementary schools early in her career. Jon was the assistant to the Dean of Brenau College in Gainesville Ga.
