On September 21, 1947 in Washington DC, Jon Edmond Harris was born. He grew up in Landover Maryland and attended Central High School.
Jon was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1970. As an adult Jon lived in Waldorf, Maryland for 43 years.
Throughout his life, Jon was a volunteer fire fighter in several Maryland fire stations. Jon was employed by Washington National Airport Authority at Regan National Airport for 28 years as a firefighter, driver. At Regan National Airport he was a fire fighter EMT/paramedic for the last 20 years. From 1995-2005 Jon was self-employed as a certified CPR and First Aid instructor. His company was called Emergency Care Education.
After retirement from the airport, Jon worked as a sales associate at Fred’s, Dick’s, BJ’s, and HH Gregg of Waldorf.
Jon enjoyed many sports, softball (church league), fishing, pool, bowling, ping pong, golf and boating.
For 45 years Jon was married to L. Pat Harris. He is survived by Pat, their sons, Joshua and Zachary and 5 grandchildren.
He was a member of Good Samaritan Presbyterian Church.
Jon loved people, made friends easily and was always a rescuer.
