Jon A. Hageman, 78 of Moberly, died Tuesday, July 23, 2019.  He was born October 17, 1940 in Armstrong, IA to Albert C. and Vera A. (Ankrum) Hageman.

Prior to retirement, he was part of a family business. Jon married Carolyn S. Fowlkes on March 16, 1964 in Harrison, AR and she survives of the home. Also surviving, are his son Jon Hageman II of Nashville, TN, a sister Jean Webster of Huntsville, MO, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David, and sisters, Elaine and Ruth.

Jon had a passion for hunting, trap shooting, gun smithing, carpentry, mechanics, computers, and just about anything that could be built or “fixed.” He enjoyed spending time cutting up with his friends, (which was almost everyone he met). He loved Morgan horses, which he bred and raised many for several years.   After a hard day of work in the field, he would say, “I’d like a cold beer.” The problem was, he didn’t like the taste of beer.

He loved playing practical jokes and telling outlandish tales to his wife, convincing her that most were very much true, until he got that twinkle in his eye and said, “Gotcha!” He also was a true horse trainer, who scolded his wife while she was riding her American Saddlebred horse through the unfinished fence, teaching the horse bad habits. With their “ups and downs”, their “overs and unders”, by God’s grace, their love became deeper than the waters in the sea.  He will be deeply missed.
