Johnny Vincent McMurtree, entered this life on February 5th, 1958 and departed this world to his Heavenly kingdom on May 17th, 2020.  He was 62 years young.

Preceded in death by his loving parents, Floyd and Albina McMurtree; siblings, Barbara Edwards, Robert McMurtree, Edward McMurtree, and Margaret Cross.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Luke McMurtree, McKayla McMurtree (Chuck), and Cheyenne McMurtree (Andy).

Adored by his grandchildren, Eli, Liam, Gabriella, Cali Rose, Willow Eve, Andrew, and Baby Mares.  He is also survived by his siblings, Floyd (Gayle) McMurtree, Lily (Charles) Shumard, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and the mother of his children, Gypsy (Robert) Clearo.

John was a life-long roofer and was excellent at his craft.  He enjoyed many friends throughout his life and shared a knack for the Pistol Pete to catch many fish at San Isabel and other beautiful lakes throughout Colorado. In addition to his love of fishing, he was a boisterous and devoted fan of the Denver Broncos.

Unbeknownst to many, he was an excellent cook, and enjoyed preparing meals for his family. He cherished his early morning cup of coffee before anyone else was up.  John was quick-witted, funny, and unafraid of anything, except when Luke threw a Bull snake at him on 3R Road.

John went to great lengths in order to help his family, whether it be home repairs, sound advice, cheering you up, moral support, or just a dozen of fresh doughnuts delivered to your door.

John may have had a quick temper and an intimidating presence-“That’s Johnny being Johnny,” they would say- But for those who really knew him, he was a kind hearted, and empathetic man.  He loved watching his nature programs and Westerns, and looked pretty darn handsome in his own cowboy hat and boots.

John had a strong passion for music.  If you got into his truck, he’d have Neil Young blasting one day, and maybe Dwight Yoakam the next, and everything else in between.

Above all, John was a God-fearing man who loved his family more than anything else, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren whom he cherished and adored.

Gone way too soon.  He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

We Love You Dad- Rest In Eternal Peace…
