Rev. Johnny A. Green, 89, of Wynne, Arkansas, passed from this walk of life on Thursday, March 3, 2022, in Wynne.
He was born on February 6, 1933, in Trumann, Arkansas, to Allen Green and Minnie Lock. Bro. Johnny served our country for three years in the United States Army. He was united in marriage to Frances E. Aston on January 18, 1953, in Arlington, Virginia and together they celebrated over sixty-nine years of marriage.
Bro. Johnny was an ordained Southern Baptist minister who served faithfully in pastoral work as well as spending several years as an evangelist. He traveled many miles preaching the gospel message throughout the United States, Africa, Korea, and Argentina, and pastored churches in Arkansas and Oklahoma. After retiring from evangelism he continued serving as interim pastor in several churches and lastly served as Associate Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in Wynne. He also served as chaplain of Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and the Cross County Sheriff’s Department, as well as bailiff for Cross County Sheriff’s Department.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Frances Green of Wynne, Arkansas; son and daughter in law, Steven A. and Annette Green of Arlington, Tennessee; daughter, Kathy Wallace of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; daughters and son in laws, Carol and David Hunter of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee and Kay and Kenneth Holland of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
