Johnnie P. “J.P.” Jackson, 81, widower of Shirley Troutman Jackson, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at his residence.

J.P. was born on June 5, 1935 in St. George, a son of the late Johnnie Jackson, Sr. and Emma Martin Jackson.  He was a retired supervisor with Banks Construction after 42 year of service and continued working for Austin Construction and E.L. Jackson.  He was the owner of Jackson Goat Farm.  He was a lifelong member of Indian Field United Methodist Church where he was active in the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class, United Methodist Men’s Club and Country Living Senior Group. He enjoyed playing the guitar and entertaining his family and friends.  He was predeceased by his siblings, Allen Jackson, Legare Jackson, Wilbur Jackson, Gloria Horne and Dorothy Murrell. 

Surviving is a son, Johnny (Tammie) Jackson, St. George; a daughter, Pamela Jackson Hall, Summerville; grandchildren, Carmen (Jonathan) J. Elliott, Brenna Jackson, all of St. George; great-grandchildren, Emma and Ava Fralix and Dominic Elliott; two sisters, Janie Bell Mellard and Millie Singletary; brother-in-law, Gene Horne; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Jackson, Rosa Mae Troutman, Sarah Shipley, Margie (Harry) Roberts and Barbara Troutman Godwin; and a his caregiver, Ida Daniels.
