Johnnie Mae Sanders Davis, 72 of 157 Clay St., New Haven passed away July 1, 2007 in The Connecticut Hospice, Branford. She was the beloved wife of Paul Davis Sr. Born in Shorter, AL. on July 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Antonio & Mary Lee Sanders Chardon. She came to New Haven in 1956 and worked at Grace New Haven Hospital (now Yale New Haven) She met and married Paul Davis in 1957. They were married 50 years and never left each other’s side until her death on July 1, 2007. She was a member of East Rock Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for the past 35 years, never waivering. Mrs. Davis leaves to grieve her passing two sons, Paul Davis Jr. & Antonio Davis, both of New Haven; three daughters, Tamela Davis Bash of West Haven, Sandy M. & Ira S. Davis, both of New Haven; 14 grandchildren & 2 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives & friends. She was predeceased by her 3 oldest children including Amos Sanders.
