Early on the morning of Tuesday, April 27, 2021, Johnnie Mack Villines transitioned into eternal life. He was surrounded by his loving wife and family at their home in Washington, DC.
Johnnie was born June 5, 1945 in Leasburg, North Carolina, to the late Thomas Chester and Dora Smith Villines. Johnnie was one of fourteen children, nine of whom are deceased. Preceding him to their heavenly home were sisters Virginia Sears, Emily Morrison, Beatrice Burwell, Georgia Thaxton, Henrietta Woody and Nancy Gibson; and brothers Wiley Villines, Bernice Villines, and Dock Smith.
Johnnie was the apple of his mother’s eye and the protective big brother to his sisters and nephew who lived with them. They all adored Johnnie because he was so dedicated to his family and loved them so dearly. At an early age, Johnnie accepted Christ as his personal savior at The Mill Hill Baptist Church in Roxboro, North Carolina. Johnnie graduated from Caswell County High School and attended Winston Salem State College. He later attended the D.C. Teachers College (now University of the District of Columbia) where he received a bachelor’s degree in education.
A stint in the U.S.
To make his life complete, Johnnie was joined in holy matrimony to Priscilla Enoch on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 1977. They remained married for forty-four years. To this union one daughter was born, LaToya Villines. Johnnie doted over his only daughter, and yes spoiled her quite a bit. Johnnie was the ideal role model for Priscilla’s two sons Bobby and Vichael (deceased). The boys adored Johnnie and relished him as a patient and wonderful father who provided only the best for his family.
Johnnie loved everything about cars since he was in high school and was an avid biker and corvette enthusiast thru the years. He was a founding member of the Sting of the Rays Corvette Family. They took many trips and socialized on a local and national basis. Each summer, the club would attend the National Corvette Convention with about 500 national members. Johnnie was also a member of Bad Boys Club of America and proudly displayed his car tag BBC 0006 and was a member of the Corvette Fun Company Corvette Club.
A beloved family man through the years, he will be mourned and missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins throughout the area. Everyone loved Uncle Johnnie and he was known as the Uncle that could not and would not say no.
